Yes I am still here and yes I am still updating the website, maybe not as much as I would like at this time. I will be working on the website this weekend and next week. I am having lots of trouble with the website being viewed on Internet Explorer (I hate you windows!!!!). I will be posting some more pictures and do not get me started on the possible Canadian election or the election of the Supreme Ruler of the World (the American election) and everything in between. I will be typing soon.

I was thinking of putting together a I grow you eat . In this program the customer would pay for a plant or a row of plants and I would tend the plants (the plants would be at my urban farm aka my back yard) at at harvest time the customer would receive the full harvest of the plants purchased. How much would you pay this service? Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?????

Then I read this.......A Locally Grown Diet With Fuss but No Muss
The article describes people who have a backyard garden but “no time” to plant and tend the garden. So they hire out a person to plant and tend the garden and the home owner receives the harvest. Do you think that would be feasible business model (ohhhhh the big fancy words come out) in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, or any place in Saskatchewan???

I harvested enough green beans for supper yesterday. I have no pictures but even Katherine liked them. More of the same beet leaves, lettuce, and peas. Have a happy St. James Day.

More food from our garden. I have almost enough beans for a meal. Lettuce and beet leaves are growing profusely. I think I will get some tomatoes end of this week or next. The only plant that did not do well this year are my radishes. I will be spending plenty of time in our garden in the next few days.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!" The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through (the) eye of (a) needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves, "Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God." Peter began to say to him, "We have given up everything and followed you." Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. The world needs this renewal! In so many of our societies, side by side with material prosperity, a spiritual desert is spreading: an interior emptiness, an unnamed fear, a quiet sense of despair. How many of our contemporaries have built broken and empty cisterns (cf. Jer 2:13) in a desperate search for meaning – the ultimate meaning that only love can give? This is the great and liberating gift which the Gospel brings: it reveals our dignity as men and women created in the image and likeness of God. It reveals humanity’s sublime calling, which is to find fulfillment in love. It discloses the truth about man and the truth about life. Closing Mass of the 23rd World Youth Day Pope Benedict XVI

One statement that hit me very hard is: In so many of our societies, side by side with material prosperity, a spiritual desert is spreading: How are we slowing the spiritual desert from spreading? I am a little put off that every time I meet with my peer group of Catholic’s we tend to talk about the issues of penis placement (sorry if that shocks you) but we think that we are a super duper Catholic because we do not use artificial birth control, we do not sleep around, and we are not active in the homosexual lifestyle. I feel like the rich man who comes to Jesus to brag. I keep the commandments, and I worship Jesus (the rich man calling Jesus good). The response of Jesus is not “good job” but “oh you forgot on big thing, your material wealth”. If we believe that Jesus has the right to tell/ask you how to use your reproduction does not that follow He has the right to tell/ask you how to use your material goods. This is how the spiritual desert is spreading. When we talk about the Body Theology we only talk about how it impacts sexuality and never, heaven forbid, our pocket book. Let us be “irresponsible” with our material goods just as Abraham was “irresponsible” with Isaac. (Genesis 22)

It has been a busy time for me. Thank you very much for everyone who emailed me and left comments. Here are some updates:

I am still trying to find the best place to put Katherine’s blog (please be patient)

I updated the catagoies on the front page to include “How Much?”. This is the place were I post how much food we are harvisting from the garden and how much time and money it costs us.

I updated the Projects page to include information on the rocket stove.
